Blossom Street, London
Building S1a at Blossom Street is a workplace-led adaptive re-use and new-build development within an incredibly sensitive and high-profile project. Conceived through an exemplar consultation process with British Land PLC and a variety of stakeholders - from specialist local interest groups to diverse professional teams - the development focuses on the delivery of small, highly flexible workplaces to create variety, vital for the success of a burgeoning commercial community.
The design brief for Building S1a was to adopt a heritage-led approach. Our design concept was, as such, borne out of a vast body of historical research on the local area and site. Our proposals were presented throughout an extensive public consultation process which included presentations and discussions – creating a mutually beneficial dialogue which brought about sensitive design changes to the scheme and ultimately led to the scheme design that was submitted for planning. The scheme obtained planning consent in early 2016 following approval by The Mayor of London.
